Terms and Conditions of Use

Last updated: 20-10-2026

JaqueMate is a chess site for everyone. Anyone, of any age and from any country, can come in, play and learn. The content is suitable for children, teenagers and adults, and game chat is automatically moderated.

1. Who we are

JaqueMate (jaquemate.online) is a Chilean platform to play and learn chess online, in Spanish and English. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. Public access

The site is public and free:

3. Accounts and minors

4. Clubs and schools

Chess teachers and coaches can request a section for their club or school, with its own name and logo. JaqueMate reviews and approves each request.

The teacher gets Premium access at no cost for 6 months, renewable, and can:

Students have free access: they play against the computer with the available engines, solve the puzzles their teacher assigns and use the tutorials. They play against other people only with classmates from their club, and only when the teacher opens a session or a tournament.

The teacher is responsible for how their group uses these features. JaqueMate may pause or delete a club that breaks these terms. When a club is deleted, the student accounts it created and their personal data are deleted.

5. Chat and community rules

Game chat is automatically moderated. You may not send:

Messages that break these rules are not sent. After three violations in one day, chat is muted temporarily, for increasing periods (10 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days). Serious or repeated violations may lead to account suspension. Automatic moderation reduces risk but is not perfect: we ask teachers and families to supervise minors.

6. Personal data and privacy

We collect only what the site needs to work:

7. Premium subscription and payments

8. Acceptable use

It is not allowed to use engines or outside help in games against people, create fake or multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, automate use of the site, or attempt to breach its security. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

9. Intellectual property

The design, texts and lessons belong to JaqueMate. Puzzles come from the open Lichess database (public domain, CC0), pieces are by cburnett (CC BY-SA 3.0) and the analysis engine is Stockfish (GPL).

10. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep the site available and error-free, but interruptions or failures may occur. The site is provided "as is", for recreational and educational purposes.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version with its date and, for significant changes, notify you on the site or by email.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile. Questions: contacto@jaquemate.online.
